Another Illegally Imported R34 with a Florida Title

"Comes with Valid Clear State FL title. I might trade for a 2012 GTR and up. Real car enthusiasts will know what kind of car this is and what it's worth. This is very rare car and the only one in the DMV area. Don't contact me saying it's federally illegal because 25 year rule and etc. I have a US state title in hand it's completely legal. I've gotten pulled over many times by cops and had no problems. "

Under 49 U.S.C. § 30112(a), a person may not permanently import into the United States a motor vehicle manufactured after the date that an applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standard (FMVSS) takes effect unless the vehicle complies with the standard and is so certified by its original manufacturer. This prohibition applies to both new and used motor vehicles, but does not apply to motor vehicles that are at least 25 years old (based on the month and year of manufacture).

Of course it comes with a Florida title.  Just about any Nissan Skyline that has been illegally imported in the last 15 years has a Florida title.  Lets get real here, just because someone has something, that doesn't make it legal.  How many drug dealers, and prostitutes do you hear about, and how many are still out there?

Getting stopped by the police is no judge of a cars Federal legality. The local police only really care about registration and insurance. If you have those they assume you are OK. Most local police won't have the training to know if a car was legally imported. It is up to the DMV- department of motor vehicles to know what they are issuing a title for.  If you get into an accident with an illegally imported car, expect issues. Your insurance, or their insurance, when investigating the car, will most likely deny the claim.  Again, not in every case, but we have seen it too many times not to mention it.

ICE seizing a Cizeta V16. This was related to Kaizo

While the car itself may be no real crime, the crime happens when this loser tries to pawn this car off to someone that knows no better. If the car is in Maryland, why doesn't it have a Maryland title? Is there an issue getting a title in Maryland? What does Maryland say about a resident driving a car with out of state plates?

Being a GTT the car is worth maybe 15k on a good day. Not even part of what an R34 GT-R is worth.  However the fact that it in the US will cause someone that knows no better, to spend stupid money on an illegal car, that could be seized.

Do cars get seized often? Not that often, but it does happen.  Just like this R33 GT-R that was seized in South Carolina, it was 18 containers before they got caught, but now US Customs took all of their computers and records.  The next people that are going to lose their cars, are the people that bought cars from All JDM Motors.  If you don't think so, have a look at what happened to Kaizo, and then their customers.

There are of course many people out there, that think their shit doesn't stink. They get away with a couple of illegal cars, and get pretty brazen. Those guys get on the Feds radar, and the only people that really lose out, are the customers.  The customers lose the car, and the money. The shady importer guys go back to working at Walmart.

Is My Imported Car Legal?

  1. Is it over 25 years old with proper documentation?
  2. Is it on the list of non-conforming vehicles eligible for import with documentation?
  3. Is it a Show or Display car with documentation?
  4. Is it a legally imported race car with documentation?

  1. 5. Was your car imported when it was on the non-conforming eligible for import when it was imported and bond released?
